Pronounced “joy-a”, I’m the Web and Design Intern at Strong Towns and Marketing Coordinator for the Emerging New Urbanists. Since discovering New Urbanism while writing my thesis senior year of high school, I haven’t been able to stop talking about walkable cities. I love clever design and I use that passion to facilitate more conversations about the built environment. Apart from this interest, I love indie music, theological conversations with my dad, and making bracelets for friends.

INTERDISCIPLINARY
Graduating in Interdisciplinary Studies from Liberty University, I use seemingly opposing spheres of analytical design and creative passion to design distinct solutions. I’m at home ‘off the beaten path’, and that non-traditional experience allows me to bring nuance to my projects.

My senior year of high school I had to write a thesis to graduate. Originally I planned to write about how terrible cities were (and have a good time doing it), but while reading Til We Have Built Jerusalem by Philip Bess the way he talked about the places we live struck a chord with me and after that I couldn’t get enough of New Urbanism.

The sky’s the limit! I enjoy photography, videography, illustration, architecture, sewing, painting, and much more. I read a killer bedtime story on top of all that.

As of late April, I’ve been inspired by candid photography (real life can be so beautiful!), birds (Homing by Jon Day!), and patchwork sewing using only scraps.

I talk a lot.. So somewhere along the way I developed a psuedo-podcast. Oops!
